Year-old car lover reaches 130 mph on racetrack
A British car enthusiast reignited her passion for fast machines by reaching over 130 mph on a track, according to the report. Patricia Elliot, a lifelong sports-car fan and a former British Aerospace employee living at Dower House care home in Winchester, was driven in an Aston Martin at Thruxton Race Circuit in Andover. The 98-year-old did not hesitate when offered the chance, and her experience became a memorable highlight, with family and care staff emphasizing its special meaning. Sara Stagg, resident wellbeing coordinator at The Dower House, said Elliot has been a longtime fan and jumped at the opportunity to experience it again. Elliot’s cousin Susan traveled from Scotland to witness the moment, which also drew attention because it came after a message about returning to a racing car at her age. Staff credited Thruxton’s team for making the outing safe and enjoyable.
