Gen Z to struggle more than Boomers when the clocks go back as nearly half of younger Britons feel their mood plummet
As clocks go back, a survey commissioned by the Plants & Flowers Foundation Holland suggests Gen Z and Millennials may struggle more with the darker, shorter days than older Britons. Based on responses from 2,000 adults, 47% of younger people report a noticeable mood dip when the clocks change, compared with 22% among older generations. Younger respondents are more likely to lean on music and films (38% and 26%) rather than outdoor routines; only 17% said they take countryside walks and 18% keep gardening, while 25% of older people use walks and 18% gardening. Flower-related habits also differ: 29% of younger adults want to buy blooms more often. A “Flower Pharmacy” pop-up in Soho offered complimentary floral “prescriptions” matched to visitors’ emotional states.
