Harry Potter Villain's HBO Series Story After Major Book Change Confirmation Addressed By New Star
The upcoming HBO Harry Potter TV series is set to bring major Cornelius Fudge changes after a book-related shift, with a confirmed premiere date of December 25. Created by Francesca Gardiner, the show adapts J.K. Rowling’s fantasy novels and is scheduled to debut later this year. Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout lead the cast as Harry, Hermione, and Ron, while Bertie Carvel will play Fudge, the Minister for Magic for much of the storyline. Speaking at the 2nd edition of the Italian Global Series festival, Carvel said he has not yet read scripts but expects a different “trajectory” for Fudge compared with other powerful characters he has played. He described Fudge’s position as one where status security feels questionable, and tied the role to exploring how leaders respond as dark forces rise. The framing emphasizes conscience, consequences, and urgency as writers’ approach to the story remains under wraps.
