Macklemore Dropped From Ed Sheeran Tour After 'Free Palestine' Speech

Macklemore was removed from the remainder of Ed Sheeran’s U.S. Loop Tour after making a “Free Palestine” speech during Sheeran’s Sept. 4 concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The promoter, Messina Touring Group, said it was notified by venues that Macklemore would not be allowed on upcoming lineup dates, which would otherwise disrupt the tour. Macklemore had been scheduled to perform at eight of the 10 remaining shows, with the tour resuming Sept. 19 in Philadelphia. He previously told crowds during this month’s appearances that he wanted “Free Palestine” to be shouted in stadiums. A petition from the Israeli American Council demanded his removal.
