Major fashion retailer returns to UK high street 2 years after administration
xCruzo Brief
Ted Baker is returning to the UK high street with a new standalone store in London, marking its first British shop using the brand name in years. The move comes after the company shut all 46 of its branches following its 2024 collapse into administration. Ted Baker was delisted from the London Stock Exchange in 2022 after being acquired by Authentic Brands Group for about £210 million. Authentic’s Henry Stupp said the opening is a milestone for the brand in its home market. The retailer previously faced profit warnings, accounting errors, and COVID-19 impacts; in 2020 it cut hundreds of jobs and raised £100 million. Its products still sell online and via a Selfridges boutique at Birmingham’s Bullring.
