Taylor Swift concert plotter says 'I'm sorry' as he's guilty of planning attack
An Austrian state court in Wiener Neustadt convicted a 21-year-old Austrian citizen known only as Beran A of planning to attack Taylor Swift’s concert in Vienna, nearly two years after authorities thwarted the plot. The court found him guilty on charges connected to the concert plot, including intended target and method. His defense described admissions on the trial's opening day. The thwarted scheme led to the cancellation of Swift’s three Vienna performances in August 2024, which drew tens of thousands of fans to the city. Beran A apologized to the court, saying 'I am sorry' as the verdict was delivered. The case has heightened scrutiny of security for major European concerts and underscored ongoing concerns about violent extremism targeting high-profile events.
