Wisconsin Congressman Tom Tiffany suffers minor injuries after emergency landing in a lake

Rep. Tom Tiffany, a Republican and Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate, said Sunday he suffered minor injuries after the plane he was traveling in made an emergency landing on Lake Wausau in central Wisconsin. Tiffany said the aircraft lost power on approach to Wausau Downtown Airport while he was returning from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner. As the plane began to submerge, Tiffany and the pilot exited and swam to a shallow area to wait for emergency responders, according to his account. Tiffany thanked the pilot and Wausau Fire Department responders in a social media post, adding that both he and the pilot had only minor injuries.
