Anthropic lays out drug R&D ambitions, risks in mammoth IPO filing
Anthropic used its long-awaited IPO filing to lay out a push into drug discovery, including plans to build a molecular biology lab and invest in research that could eventually yield drug candidates. In an S-1 filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, the company behind the Claude AI platform described “Powerful AI” as a future capability that could be widely available within a few years, potentially accelerating drug discovery and personalized therapy. Anthropic also acknowledged scientific, regulatory and operational risks beyond software. The filing says it’s preparing to go public on Nasdaq under “ANT,” with an offering that could raise more than $100 billion, though no price or share count was set. Partnerships already include Novo Nordisk, Bristol Myers Squibb, and board ties to Novartis CEO Vas Narasimhan.
