AstraZeneca kicks off $1.5 billion savings drive to invest in drug pipeline
xCruzo Brief
AstraZeneca has launched a restructuring program aimed at supporting investment in its drug pipeline, with benefits estimated at about $1.5 billion. Announced Oct. 30, the Anglo-Swedish company said it expects one-time restructuring charges of up to $2 billion and expects the plan to be largely completed by the end of 2029. AstraZeneca did not say whether the programme would involve job cuts. The move comes as CEO Pascal Soriot seeks to reassure investors after recent trial setbacks. The savings and pipeline push were announced alongside third-quarter results that beat analysts and helped AstraZeneca keep its 2026 outlook.
