Elective surgery hub at Shropshire hospital reaches 10,000 patient operations
Elective surgery at Shropshire hospital hits a major milestone, with The Princess Royal Hospital’s elective surgery hub surpassing 10,000 operations since it opened. The 10,000th procedure was completed on Sunday, June 7, marking progress in reducing waiting times for planned care. The £24 million facility was designed to deliver elective treatment with fewer delays and less disruption from emergency cases. The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) also received national accreditation under the GIRFT elective surgical hub programme. The hub serves both adults and children and covers procedures including gynaecology, vascular, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and general surgery. Reporting on the milestone, hub chief executive Jo Williams said the investment is improving patient experience and providing dedicated high-quality care. Madison Naylor, the 10,000th patient, said staff were reassuring throughout.
