Experts Agree on a Blueprint for Digital Case-Based Learning in Community
Medical educators in India have developed an expert blueprint for digital case-based learning in undergraduate Community Medicine, using a modified two-round electronic Delphi process. The study, published in BMC Medical Education, was led by Sunil Kumar D of JSS Medical College in Mysuru. It generated a provisional framework of 19 consensus-endorsed elements covering priority topics, case design, learning outcomes, reasoning steps, digital formats, and assessment. The researchers say the challenge is that Community Medicine requires students to integrate clinical reasoning, epidemiological interpretation, social determinants of health, links to national health programs, and preventive decision-making simultaneously. In Delphi Round 1 (Oct.–Dec. 2025), six faculty produced ideas via an open-ended questionnaire, analyzed through inductive thematic coding.
