Italian Survey Reveals Major Gaps in Treat-to-Target Care for Atopic
An Italy-wide clinical survey found major gaps in implementing treat-to-target care for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis. Published in Dermatology and Therapy, the study reports that only half of participating specialists systematically document formal treat-to-target goals at every clinical visit. Researchers examined real-world practices, therapeutic priorities, and barriers faced by physicians managing the chronic inflammatory condition marked by intense pruritus, skin barrier dysfunction, and type 2 inflammation. The exploratory cross-sectional survey used a 19-item questionnaire developed by a scientific board of 10 Italian key opinion leaders, deployed online from December 2025 to January 2026. Fifty-nine physicians completed the demographic portion, mostly dermatologists.
