Less than 2.5% of Taylor Farms' recalled lettuce went to Taco Bells

A new FDA enforcement report clarifies where contaminated Taylor Farms shredded iceberg lettuce was sold during the Cyclospora outbreak that has sickened more than 23,000 people across 47 states, with two deaths and over 500 hospitalizations. Although Taco Bell restaurants were a prime suspect, only 5,900 cases—just under 2.5% of the total—went to Yum, the parent of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC. Taylor Farms recalled 236,192 cases of lettuce total. Walmart’s Marketside received 109,476 cases (about 46%), while Taylor Farms’ own brand accounted for 68,897 cases (about 29%). Other recipients included Cross Valley Farms (19,016), Sysco (11,519), Markon (7,459) and Peak Fresh Produce (720).
