Map shows 8 states impacted by 1.7M-pound sugar recall

The FDA assigned a Class II risk classification to a recall affecting nearly 1.7 million pounds of sugar products that may contain undeclared wheat contamination. The recall covers about 1.27 million pounds of light brown sugar and roughly 426,500 pounds of powdered sugar distributed in consumer packages and larger commercial bags. Products were launched into the market after United Sugar Producers and Refiners initiated a voluntary recall on Aug. 19. The FDA says Class II means potential temporary or medically reversible adverse effects, with severe outcomes considered remote. The recall impacts buyers in eight states, urging consumers to check batch numbers and lot identifiers, including MHD26223 through MHD26229.
