Men and two women jailed for nearly 100 years

Seventeen criminals in Merseyside were jailed over one week for a combined total of 95 years and five months, including cases involving murder, drugs and serious sexual offending. Liverpool Crown Court heard that a sex offender attempted to rape a woman in an Airbnb before trying to flee the country on a flight from John Lennon Airport. Among the longer sentences, Ian Griffin was jailed for five years after battering his 83-year-old father and forcing him to sign a makeshift will; he also received an extended licence period of a further year and indefinite restraining orders. Robert Hampson was sentenced to eight years for a van stop on the M62 where police found 10kg of cocaine, plus ketamine, cannabis and cash.
