xCruzo Brief
Mountain Laurel Medical Center in Oakland has received Gold+ recognition from the American Heart Association through its Target: BP program. The award is tied to evidence-based blood pressure measurement and treatment practices and requires blood pressure control rates of at least 70% among adult patients with hypertension. The center’s achievement highlights efforts to improve long-term management of high blood pressure, a preventable risk factor for heart disease, stroke, and premature death in the U.S. The American Heart Association reports that about 122.4 million U.S. adults live with hypertension, but only about one in four have it under control. CEO Michelle Dixon credited the care team’s commitment.
