New Lupus Score Matches Expert Judgment in Managing Systemic Lupus
xCruzo Brief
A new study from the University Medical Center Mainz says a practical tool called the Mainz Lupus Score (MLS) can align treatment decisions made by less-experienced clinicians with those preferred by lupus experts. Published in Frontiers in Lupus, the score is designed as clinical support, not a replacement for existing disease activity indices. Developed over about a year through consensus rounds involving senior specialists and junior physicians at the Mainz Lupus Center, it reduces expert logic to four simple items covering new symptoms, quality of life, and laboratory changes. The study reports MLS performance matches expert judgment in managing systemic lupus erythematosus.
