Pharmaceutical Scientists Rally Around Particle Engineering for
The Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation will publish a major special issue focused on how particle engineering and formulation science are changing medicine development and delivery. Set to appear in January 2027, the collection—titled Translational Advances in Pharmaceutical Dosage Form Development Based on Particle Engineering and Formulation Science—aims to gather research from labs and manufacturing sites worldwide under one editorial umbrella. The issue is led by guest editors Sung-Joo Hwang (Yonsei University), Min-Soo Kim (Pusan National University), and Heejun Park (Duksung Women’s University), with an emphasis on bridging laboratory formulation breakthroughs with products that can be reliably manufactured at scale. A key driver is the industry challenge of poorly water-soluble drug candidates, which particle approaches can help address through techniques such as micronization, nanonization, crystal habit modification, and amorphous solid dispersions.
