Thousands of bottles of blood pressure medication recalled nationwide
The FDA announced a nationwide recall affecting thousands of bottles of a blood pressure medication. On June 5, Inventia Healthcare Limited issued a voluntary recall of certain lots of Chlorthalidone Tablets, USP, 25 mg, with bottle counts listed as 100 or 1000. The recall was triggered by “failed dissolution specifications.” According to the FDA, more than 11,400 bottles were involved, and the products were set to expire in April 2027. The drug is used alone or with other medicines to treat high blood pressure and can also be used for fluid retention, according to the Mayo Clinic. The recall is the latest in a series of blood pressure medication actions, following an October recall of more than half a million bottles of Prazosin Hydrochloride over concerns about unsafe levels of a cancer-causing chemical.
