When Bladder Symptoms Speak, Listen: Urology Care Foundation Encourages Early Evaluation
During Bladder Health Month, the Urology Care Foundation (UCF)—the official foundation of the American Urological Association—urged people to take bladder symptoms seriously and seek evaluation sooner rather than later. The group said many Americans delay care due to embarrassment, misconceptions, or the belief that symptoms are simply part of aging. UCF highlighted that bladder cancer is the fourth most common cancer in men and the eighth in women, and that early signs can be overlooked. It cited that blood in urine can be an early symptom and noted smoking as a risk factor. The foundation also emphasized non-cancer conditions such as urinary incontinence and overactive bladder, affecting tens of millions in the U.S. It cited treatment can help improve quality of life.
