Amelia Dimoldenberg Started 'Chicken Shop Date' at a London Youth Club. Now, She's Giving Back Through Her Own Summer Academy
xCruzo Brief
Amelia Dimoldenberg is turning her “Chicken Shop Date” origin story into a new opportunity for young creatives. After attending a youth club in North London as a teenager, the viral talk format that now has nearly 3 million followers began there as a magazine column. Last summer, Dimoldenberg launched the free, in-person Dimz Inc. Academy for 18- to 24-year-olds from underserved communities, created with the youth charity Spiral Skills and hosted at Young Creators U.K.’s South London studio. The five-day program helped graduates land roles at YCUK, the BBC and Google. This year, she expanded it to a four-week program, centered on “Love Letters,” with 16 participants working in teams across interview, vox pop and documentary-style concepts.
