Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s Falklands War flying gloves failed to attract bids at auction, despite expectations of £1,000 to £2,000. The dirty, well-worn gloves were signed by Andrew and donated to a charity sale shortly after 1982’s conflict. A Diana, Princess of Wales letter sold for £5,330 in the same sale, underscoring shifting interest in royal memorabilia amid later controversies surrounding Andrew. Auctioneer James Grinter noted the gloves’ notoriety and public sentiment, saying there was no interest or bids. Mountbatten-Windsor flew Sea King helicopters on anti-submarine and decoy missions aboard HMS Invincible in 1982, then remained on board until 1983.
