FIA president backs Argentina F1 and rally return

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem said he would back Argentina’s push to return to both the Formula One calendar and the World Rally Championship. Speaking to A24 after meeting Argentine president Javier Milei in Buenos Aires during the FIA’s American Congress, Ben Sulayem pointed to Argentina’s motorsport history and “track record,” while stressing the need for sustainable race venues and a business plan. He noted the F1 calendar is currently set at 24 rounds and that if Argentina is added, another country must be removed. Argentina last hosted F1 in 1998, and rally action returned in 2019. The Oscar and Juan Galvez Autodrome is being renovated for Grade One status.
