Wade eyes World Cup call

Christian Wade said he still has a “burning ambition” to represent England at this summer’s World Cup, despite being overlooked for a spot in Stuart Lancaster’s Six Nations squad. The Wasps wing, who earned his only England cap in 2013 against Argentina, has battled injuries that have limited his international appearances. With the World Cup opener against Fiji less than seven months away, he is focused on forcing his way back into the national set-up. Wade returned from an ankle injury in December and has regained form with Wasps, earning selection for the England Saxons’ 18-9 win over Ireland Wolfhounds last month, when he came off the bench to score a try.
