Hawcoat Park suffer an away defeat against Aspatria

Hawcoat Park suffered an away defeat against Aspatria, despite moments of pressure and a late push for points. Park began strongly, but their hopes took a blow when full-back Will Coles had a recurrence of a long-standing hamstring issue during warm-up. Aspatria quickly exposed space on their wide, firm pitch and surged to a 21-0 lead within about 10 minutes. Their scoring included a penalty try after centre Jack Sutherland received a yellow card for a “seatbelt” tackle attempt. After further tries and two conversions, Park were down 33-5, before halftime ended at 33-12 following a late penalty try. Aspatria stretched the lead after the break, winning 40-12 with additional tries. The match report cuts off as Park’s final phase is described.
