Reese Atwood the ranch hand: Texas softball slugger guided hunting trips as a kid

Reese Atwood’s rise for Texas softball is rooted in a hands-on upbringing on a Sandia ranch that sharpened her work ethic. As the Longhorns’ catcher, she combines power at the plate with sharp defense, earning All-SEC first team honors and twice on All-Big 12. In February, her 11-0 win over Abilene Christian crowned her as the Longhorns’ all-time home run leader, surpassing the previous 58-homer mark. By her junior year in 2025 she had 222 RBIs, and her 58 homers this season pushed her career total to 280 RBIs. Earlier this month she was picked in the AUSL Draft by the Carolina Blaze.
