Prince William made honorary member of Hastings Winkle Club

Prince William has been made an honorary Winkler at the Hastings Winkle Club, the same fishing organization where his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, was also a member. During his first official visit to Hastings in East Sussex, he heard from local fishermen about the challenges facing their industry. Hastings has a fishing heritage spanning more than 1,000 years and is home to the UK’s largest beach-launched fishing fleet, described as the largest in Europe. The club gave him a silver winkle charm as part of its charity membership, and it said the selection reflects good character and personal preference. The Prince also toured Hastings’ distinctive black wooden net shops.
