Volunteers celebrate 12 years running Anlaby Park Community Library

Volunteers who saved Anlaby Park Community Library from closure in 2013 are overseeing a major refurbishment that will modernize both its exterior and interior. Hull City Council is funding the exterior repairs, while volunteer-driven fundraising covers internal renovations, with 60 to 80 volunteers aiding daily operations and events. The project follows the 2014 lease transfer to the Friends of Anlaby Park Library and aims to address subsidence through structural work, safeguarding the site’s long-term viability. Work is expected to begin in July, with temporary accommodation on site to keep the library open and maintain community activities such as clubs, craft groups, and chess sessions.
