Woman Dies on Bachelorette Trip Hosted by Indiana Pacers Star Tyrese Haliburton's Fiancee

A bachelorette trip for Jade Jones, the fiancée of Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, ended tragically when a friend died unexpectedly in St. Barts earlier this month. Makenzi Kern, 26, died from health complications, and her family does not believe drugs or alcohol were involved. Jones and Kern were Iowa State University alumni who met while cheering for the Cyclones, and Haliburton proposed to Jones in 2025 at the ISU Hilton Coliseum. Kern’s obituary describes her as joyful and loyal, with many close friendships. Jones had shared travel highlights on social media before Kern's death on June 8, as the group prepared to return home.
