Children's fruit pouches recalled over possible presence of plastic

Children’s fruit pouches are being recalled in the United States after a potential plastic defect was detected. The recall affects specific 4-ounce pouches of Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry, sold nationwide at Kroger, Meijer and Target between March 6 and July 13 of this year. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said there may be “a strand of soft, food-grade plastic” in the finished product due to an internal packaging defect. The company, PT Organics, issued the recall voluntarily after its packaging supplier alerted it, and a small number of inspected pouches were found to contain the material. No injuries have been reported. Consumers are instructed to dispose of the product immediately or return it to the store for a refund. Affected items can be identified using the specific barcode, lane number, and best-before dates listed by the FDA.
