Million Brits switch service as Ofcom shares how you can save £100 a year
Ofcom says around 3.5 million people have switched landline or broadband providers since the regulator introduced a simplified “one touch” process that requires customers to talk only to their new provider. The moves are happening amid pressure from rising living costs. Ofcom’s research estimates that customers who bundle broadband, landline, and pay-TV and are out of contract could save more than £100 a year by switching to a cheaper deal; it says one in three of these “triple play” customers were out of contract last year. Ofcom also reports that 4% of telecoms customers missed a payment last quarter, while others changed services, reduced spending, or cancelled. The regulator recommends checking contract status, comparing offers, and matching broadband deals to usage, noting that Wi‑Fi and broadband are not the same.
