MLB monitoring Dodgers owner Mark Walter amid federal probe

Major League Baseball is monitoring an investigation involving Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter, after a whistleblower complaint drew federal attention. Walter was flagged over allegations that loans between Guggenheim founder companies were misrepresented, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan and the Securities and Exchange Commission. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said the league is watching the matter alongside law enforcement. The report also notes Walter has already sold parts of his sports portfolio, including the Lakers at a record $12.5 billion valuation and his stake in Chelsea FC. It adds he is looking to sell his controlling interest in the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces. MLB has said the Dodgers are not for sale.
