NGX investors gain N2.53tn as stock market extends rally
The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) extended its rally, with investors gaining N2.532 trillion as the equities market closed higher for the week. NGX data showed the All-Share Index (ASI) rose 1.60% to 247,357.40 points from 243,462.13 in the previous week. Market capitalization increased 1.61% to N159.588 trillion from N157.057 trillion, representing the N2.532 trillion gain. Trading activity totaled 4.433 billion shares valued at N306.143 billion across 255,589 deals, up from 2.819 billion shares worth N182.499 billion in 226,729 deals the prior week. The Financial Services Industry dominated with 3.422 billion shares valued at N207.206 billion in 117,545 deals, contributing 77.18% of turnover by volume and 67.68% by value. While 57 stocks rose, 38 fell and 51 ended flat. The exchange suspended trading in Aluminium Extrusion Plc effective Wednesday, July 22, for failing to file audited accounts for the year ended Dec. 31, 2025, and announced Linkage Assurance Plc’s listing of an additional 12.32 billion ordinary shares on Thursday, July 23.
