Sempra (SRE) Just Locked In Two Decades of LNG Demand
xCruzo Brief
Sempra Infrastructure, filial de Sempra (NYSE:SRE), signed a 20-year LNG sales deal with Petrobras for about 0.8 million tonnes per year, in a move Sempra says is the first time a South American company has signed on as an LNG customer. The gas will come from Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 in Texas, still years from completion, with a final investment decision reached in September 2025. The project is expected to bring two liquefaction trains online in 2030 and 2031, adding about 13 million tonnes of capacity and bringing Port Arthur to roughly 26 million tonnes annually. Petrobras becomes Sempra Infrastructure’s first South American customer, supporting its dual-coast strategy.
