Atlanta Falcons release Super Bowl champion offensive tackle they had just traded for

The Atlanta Falcons have released Super Bowl-winning offensive tackle Wanya Morris as part of their roster cutdowns ahead of the 53-man limit, according to reports. Atlanta acquired Morris just over a month ago in a trade that sent late-round draft picks to the Kansas City Chiefs, hoping he would add depth and competition on the offensive line under new head coach Kevin Stefanski. Instead, Morris reportedly did not make enough progress in training camp and preseason to stick. The move leaves Morris looking for a third NFL opportunity before the regular season. He was a third-round pick in 2023, started 10 games at left tackle in 2024, and has postseason and championship experience from the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run.
