UEFA has warned FIFA it could pursue legal action after Gianni Infantino’s failed plan to sell a stake in future World Cup profits to private investors. UEFA says it wants evidence preserved and alerted FIFA’s side that any destruction, deletion, alteration, concealment or loss of relevant materials could be considered spoliation. The threat follows the early Saturday withdrawal of FIFA’s FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) proposal, which media reports said aimed to raise $4.2 billion from investors, including Joshua Kushner’s New York firm. UEFA had already led a backlash, with its 55 member federations agreeing to boycott all FIFA events while the proposal was active. A letter dated Friday from Dechert named 18 FIFA executives as targets for document retention.
