Former college basketball player Kerr Kriisa accused of fraud in $2.2M scheme. A federal grand jury in West Virginia indicted the 25-year-old guard on charges related to a scheme in which prosecutors say he fraudulently obtained nearly $2.2 million from two victims. The indictment alleges that Kerr Kriisa lied and posed as other people, including his own mother, while claiming urgent emergencies requiring money. Kriisa, a 6-foot-3 player from Estonia, began college at Arizona in 2020, became a fan favorite, led the Pac-12 in assists during two full seasons, then transferred to West Virginia and later Kentucky and Cincinnati. He is expected to appear in federal court in West Virginia this week on five counts of wire fraud. Federal prosecutors also noted he was previously suspended early in his West Virginia season after admitting he received impermissible benefits at Arizona. He was arrested in Kentucky and the case was unsealed Monday after his arrest.
