From SoFi to Highmark: The NFL stadiums opened in the U.S. over the past decade

Highmark Stadium opened Thursday, Sept. 17, giving the NFL another new venue in its recent wave of modern stadium builds. The Buffalo Bills hosted the Detroit Lions for the first regular-season game at the new home. Since U.S. Bank Stadium opened in Minneapolis in 2016, only five other NFL stadiums have debuted in the U.S.: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, SoFi Stadium and the latest edition, Highmark. U.S. Bank Stadium opened July 22, 2016, and later hosted Super Bowl LII in 2018. Mercedes-Benz Stadium opened in 2017, featuring a retractable roof and hosting Super Bowl LIII in 2019. Allegiant arrived in Las Vegas in 2020 at a reported $1.97 billion, while SoFi opened for the 2020 season in Inglewood for the Rams.
