Zhang Ziyu, China’s 19-year-old center listed at 223 cm (7 ft 4 in), continues to draw global attention at the Women’s World Cup in Germany, where she helped China beat the Czech Republic 74-70 in overtime on Sunday. After scoring just three points in just over 10 minutes against a physical Czech team, Zhang drew comparisons earlier in the tournament when the United States opened with a 94-61 win over China. U.S. star Caitlin Clark said she’s “never played against a woman of that size,” adding Zhang is young and still learning how to use her advantage near the basket. Teammate Han Xu echoed that message, framing Zhang as “just a little girl” despite her height.
