Gardiner moves closer to dangerous building declaration for former nursing home

Gardiner has moved closer to declaring the former Merrill Memorial Manor on Dresden Avenue a dangerous building, a move that could force repairs or demolition. Neighbors say the vacant 146 Dresden Ave property is a fire hazard and attracts squatters, with the adjacent 142 Dresden Ave lot also involved. The City Council unanimously approved May 20 to pursue a dangerous-building process and scheduled a July public hearing, directing staff to notify the owner, Adam Mack. The building displays holes in the roof, falling trim, broken windows, damaged structural beams and a crumbling chimney. The owner is listed as RTM Gardiner Limited Liability.
