Girls' football team crowned best in the country

The Bournemouth School for Girls under-12s football team has secured the national crown, marking a standout achievement for a south coast side. After a 0-0 final against Thomas Telford School, the title was decided by penalties, with Bournemouth winning 4-2 at the bet365 Stadium, a 30,000-seat venue that hosts Stoke City. The final took place on May 20, following a campaign in which the squad advanced past more than 250 other teams to reach the decisive match. The win caps a remarkable run for a group that trained intensely and rose to national prominence through their teamwork and determination.

PE teacher Michelle Vincent highlighted the squad’s cohesion and talent, describing the moment as the best feeling and noting how the group has grown together. The team’s star goalkeeper, Ella, delivered a steady performance under pressure, helping the players stay calm as penalties loomed. Vincent stressed that the success reflects well on the school, the players’ families, and the broader community, underscoring how football has unified them and elevated local pride.
