Russia preparing 'massive strikes' on Ukraine's energy sites after deadliest attack of the year

The warning comes days after a devastating Russian strike on a warehouse west of Kyiv on Friday, with the death toll now reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at 38 and four people missing. Ukrainian officials said the strike hit an ammunition storage facility in the village of Myla, sparking fires and explosions; most fires were extinguished. Zelenskyy called it a “terrible situation” and said an investigation began to determine how explosives were stored near people. The dispute also fuels renewed concern about winter, as Ukraine faces air-defense shortages and has emphasized keeping energy and critical infrastructure protected. Since April, Zelenskyy has highlighted defense of key facilities for the next heating season.
