Takeaways as the Spurs race past Dallas with dominant fourth quarter
xCruzo Brief
The Spurs got their first win of the season by rallying past the Dallas Mavericks 122-106 at the American Airlines Center on Friday. Victor Wembanyama scored 23 points and Dylan Harper added 22 as San Antonio overcame a sluggish start after going 0-2. The win spoiled the home debut of new Mavericks coach Dusty May, who had earned his first NBA win the prior night in Indiana. Dallas played without star sophomore Cooper Flagg (shoulder injury) and also missed All-Star guard Kyrie Irving along with key reserves. Despite the absences, the Mavericks were within 92-91 early in the first quarter. A 27-5 fourth-quarter run turned the game, with De’Aaron Fox posting 19 points and nine assists and Stephon Castle and the bench contributing late.
