Watt lands new deal as full-time CBS lead analyst replacement for Romo

J.J. Watt has signed a new multi-year agreement to become CBS Sports’ full-time lead NFL game analyst, taking over the role previously held by Tony Romo. CBS announced the deal Thursday, confirming Watt—who had served as the network’s interim top analyst earlier in the season—will remain paired with Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson. Watt, 37, joined CBS in 2023 as a studio analyst and moved into the booth last season, later being elevated to the lead team after Romo went on leave following his drunk-driving arrest in July. The network agreed to part ways with Romo earlier this month after he was arrested on July 23 in Milwaukee and pleaded no contest on Sept. 1.
