What's the Patriots' plan if RB TreVeyon Henderson is out for Week 1?

The New England Patriots open their season at Seattle on Wednesday (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC) with uncertainty surrounding rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson. Henderson played every regular-season and playoff game as a rookie in 2025, but an ankle injury has kept him out of practice since Aug. 24. If he’s limited or doesn’t play, Rhamondre Stevenson is positioned as the main option; he handled 46 snaps in last season’s opener compared with Henderson’s 25. Coach Mike Vrabel highlighted Stevenson’s blitz pickup and pass-protection value. The only other RB on the 53-man roster is Corey Kiner, acquired from the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 28 after Terrell Jennings was placed on injured reserve Aug. 13. Patriots could also elevate practice-squad backs Lan Larison or Hassan Haskins for roles on offense and punt protection.
