Appeals court lets pediatrics group exit bid to block FL A/G's suit over kid gender transitions
xCruzo Brief
A federal appeals court said it will let the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) exit its Chicago lawsuit aimed at stopping Florida’s Republican attorney general from pursuing state-court action over claims that the AAP misled the public about the safety of child gender transition treatments. On Sept. 14, the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals agreed to allow the AAP to withdraw, but only if the trial judge, Matthew F. Kennelly, vacates a controversial injunction that had moved the case toward the appeals level. The ruling drew criticism from some judges, who said bypassing guidance for lower courts risked undermining federalism. The underlying Florida case, filed in St. Lucie County, began in December 2025.
