China's hackers are hiding in plain sight

Google says a China-linked hacking group used artificial intelligence tools inside compromised U.S. networks, allowing it to run through victims’ resources and credentials while lowering the network traffic that could expose it. The targeting includes North American academic, medical, military, and technology-research institutions, according to the disclosure. It followed a Justice Department and FBI operation against QScan and QTRouter platforms allegedly used by a state-sponsored Chinese group known as QTFY. Court records name potential targets ranging from NASA and the Federal Reserve to the Departments of Energy, Justice, and Health and Human Services, plus hospitals, telecom providers, power companies, and defense contractors.
