Democrats Ask Kash Patel Why FBI Could Reportedly Consider Applicants Who Engaged In Bestiality

Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel on Monday after CBS News reported the bureau would stop automatically disqualifying some applicants with certain criminal histories, including soliciting prostitution and engaging in bestiality. The letter was timed ahead of Patel’s scheduled testimony Tuesday. CBS reported the FBI issued a directive in August that removed or modified some conditions previously used to bar candidates. Under the reported changes, applicants would not be automatically disqualified for soliciting prostitution unless certain criteria apply, including soliciting more than three times or within the past 10 years, or applying for a position of “trust.” Additional conditions were also described for theft and bestiality involving minors under 18. Democrats asked Patel to provide documents about the updated guidance.
