Fiji appoint ex-Springboks boss White as coach ahead of World Cup
xCruzo Brief
Jake White has been appointed by Fiji to coach the team into next year’s Rugby World Cup in Australia, with the 62-year-old South African having masterminded the Springboks’ 2007 title. Fiji announced the move as White steps into his next role after serving as director of rugby with the Bulls, a position he stood down from last year. White previously coached across multiple countries, including Australia, South Africa, France and Japan, and was technical adviser to Tonga before joining the Bulls in Pretoria in 2020. Fijian rugby chairman John Sanday said White “understands what it takes” to build a World Cup-winning side. Fiji’s opening match is against Spain on 4 October at Newcastle Stadium.
