Girl tore out her hair to leave DNA in the car of her kidnapper

A 15-year-old girl in Greater Manchester allegedly used strands of her own hair as DNA evidence after being abducted and held in her kidnapper’s car for eight and a half hours. The case was heard at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, where Paul Sharpe, 56, received a life term on May 18 for kidnapping and sexual assault. Prosecutors said Sharpe had “cruised the streets” seeking a young girl, recording apparent reconnaissance on his mobile phone, including a statement about the “abduction point.” During the ordeal, the girl reportedly tore out hair and deposited nasal mucus around the car interior to help police in any future investigation, driven by fear she would be raped and murdered. Police later traced the car to a hotel parking area and arrested Sharpe.
